It is located within the ancient Monastic Complex of Santa Maria dei Recommended (de Commendatis) (16th-18th century). It was born and lives with the aim of safeguarding the memory of the city of Maddaloni, involving especially young students and, through them, their families of origin in the process of knowledge and protection.
Using didactic panels and objects, the museum tells the history and evolution of the Maddaloni territory for the ancient ages (archaeological finds of ancient Calatia which stood near Maddaloni, from the Copper Age, 2800-1800 BC, to III century AD), for the Middle Ages and the modern age, up to the nineteenth century. In addition to the archaeological objects, the 18th century majolica tiles made in the Maddaloni workshops, the 17th and 18th century statues and paintings are of great interest. and the objects (ex voto) in gold, silver and coral from the sanctuary dedicated to the patron saint, San Michele Arcangelo. Contemporary art exhibitions are held in the exhibition spaces on the second floor.
Inside the multipurpose room there is a small bookshop with all the publications of the Civic Museum, postcards and prints by Maddaloni.
